Our surface protection films (SPF) already enjoy an excellent reputation for their ability to protect product surfaces from scratching.

Improvements in tack properties are paving the way for customer choice in this rapidly developing area.

We offer a range of films depending on the level of tack required in the contact layer and the material to be protected. Products are suitable for many sheet applications especially gloss thermoplastics and glass.

Step 1 Standard surface protection film (SPF)

Basic levels of surface protection can be provided with our standard level polyethylene (polythene / PE) films. High corona treatment levels coupled with high gloss film surface give a cost-effective but limited low tack option. Films are available plain or printed up to 2300mm wide; in a range of colours; and with, or without ultra violet (UV) protection.

Step 2 Co-extruded surface protection film (SPF)

The application of surface protection film to sheet materials is fast becoming commonplace. Once applied, these products provide protection against abrasion and scratching during fabrication, transportation and installation.

Low tack

  • Our state of the art co-extrusion lines allow us to manufacture multilayer protection films with tack on one side only. The lower tack options are for use on sheet thermoplastics such as PC / PMMA / ABS / PVC. Application is carried out in-line whilst product is still warm. This residual heat softens the tack layer to give a good adhesion. Film will stay firmly in place until removal is required, leaving no residue.
  •

High tack

  • By using specialist materials the level of tack is increased on these films giving a product suitable for use where film is applied post-manufacture onto cold products. This higher tack option requires no residual heat and is suitable for protection of glass items and stainless steel items. This product can also be thermally bonded to PVC sheet to form a sealable permanent liner for thermoformed tray applications.

Ultra tack

  • These grades are in development for adhesion to matt finish and coated surfaces.

All options are available in a range of colours or tints. Low tack grades are avaiable in printed formats with four colours up to 1250mm and two colours up to 2300mm.
