Britton Taco manufactures a range of co-extruded packaging films supplied on the reel for the cereal liner market which feature easy-peel sealing and support high-speed filling on modern packing lines.
Manufacturers of breakfast cereal and dry mix products utilise inner liner rolls to maintain freshness and shelf life of such products as corn flakes, crisped rice, shredded wheat, granola cereals and muesli.
The liner is the inner bag that protects food inside its carton, keeping the contents fresh until they reach their "Best Before Date". As such it must fulfil a number of core requirements:
Shelf life:
- A liner must ensure that a product will maintain its freshness while sitting on the shelf, either in the supermarket or unopened by the consumer
Peelable seal:
- A strong air-tight seal locks food odour within the package. The bag must be easily opened, yet be strong enough to hold contents during transport and handling.
Protection:
- Keeping food free from dirt and dust and protecting against physical and chemical changes. Liners also act as moisture barrier, an essential element in preserving quality and crispness of food products.
We can supply both a lower priced alternative to the typical Surlyn / HDPE structures, (which will maintain the key properties of MVTR (moisture vapour transmission rate), puncture resistance, peelability etc.), or more traditional blends.
Typical gauges are 65mu downwards, in various widths, and are available in natural and opaque finishes. High quality flexographic print is available for lamination with process flexo work.
Our in-house specialists can further develop and individually tailor any standard film to your more exacting requirements. Developments are on-going in producing Cereal Liner Films incorporating a barrier layer to prevent product contamination.
Britton Taco is certified to BRC and ISO 9001 (2008) standards.
