 Industrial Films  
A major part of our business is dedicated to film used for industrial packaging. Product quality, consistency, and customer service have yielded a broad customer base, including both small users, and large household names. Applications include: Agriculture & horticulture, Bedding & mattress, Chemicals, Construction, Flooring & carpets, Furniture packaging, & Tyre & rubber. Product range includes LLDPE pallet stretch film, shrink sheeting, shrink covers, stretch hooding, over-wrap and roll-wrap
 Collation Shrink  
From the purely functional, through to high-quality printed films in up to eight colours for consumer multi-packs. Available for single or twin feed applications, and including high gloss / clarity, controlled opening and non-fusion shrink.
 Medical & Surgical  
Britton Taco has been an established supplier to the medical field for more than a decade, providing a variety of films for use as a component layer in a number of medical applications such as equipment / patient drapes, and operating room accessories.
 Hygiene Films  
As an industry leader and global player in the hygiene disposables market, we produce a wide range of both cast and blown film products for use in the Adult protection, Baby care / diapers, and Femcare / Feminine Hygiene industries.
 Biodegradable Films  
Totally biodegradable plastic films that degrade to carbon-dioxide (or methane) and water are offered under the name "BioFlex" for applications such as retail carrier bags, refuse sacks, compost bags, shrink films, food packaging films, liquid packaging films, mailing films, agriculture and document security films.

Britton Taco - a brief history lesson…

  • Taco Plastics was established in 1973, and named after the co-founders. Operations were based in Winsford at a site in Wharton Road , and were principally engaged in polyethylene conversion (eg plastic bags).
  • 1977 - Began extruded film operations at Winsford site (shrink & industrial products).
  • 1980 - Commenced film extrusion at our newly acquired premises in Maghull, North Liverpool .
  • 1981 - Started bottom weld bag conversion at Liverpool plant, and installed an in-house recycling plant.
  • 1983/4 - Operations consolidated to site at Road One in Winsford, Cheshire . Installation of cast film machines (for diaper, femcare (feminine hygiene), and incontinence markets). Tacolin Limited formed to sell these cast products from same site. More blown film capacity added.
  • 1993 - Taco joins the (first) Britton Group.
  • During the 1990’s the Britton Group grew through acquisition, and was itself acquired in 1998 by US-based ACX Technologies Inc. The films side of the business then underwent a sale to management and shortly afterwards Britton acquired Merlin Flexible Packaging.
  • 1996 – Britton Taco’s first web site is launched effectively making them one of the UK ’s earliest packaging companies to appear on the WWW.
  • 2004 - Another management buy-out further expanding our Group capabilities, introducing a wider range of products, and creating even higher levels of service for our customers.
  • 2005 - Britton Group now comprises Britton Taco (Winsford), Britton Merlin (Louth), Britton Decoflex/SMR ( Hartlepool ), Britton Packbourne ( Enfield ), Britton Mailing/SMR (Southend). Head Office relocated to Taco premises in Winsford. Commenced blown stretch film production. (Re)accredited to BRC Global Standards for food approved films.
  • 2007 - Consolidation to three manufacturing locations: Britton Taco (Winsford), Britton Merlin (Louth), Britton Decoflex/SMR (Hartlepool).
  • 2008 - Britton Group underwent a Gbp 77 million secondary buy-out backed by HSBC Private Equity and HSBC Bank plc. The deal, supporting existing management, provides for future expansion through organic and capital expenditure-led growth.
